A family 1st: Alinson goes to college

Eight years ago, a death in the family affected Alinson deeply. City Gospel Mission came into her life at that point and has helped her find comfort in community.

I started at City Gospel Mission when I was around 10. It was kind of complicated because of everything that was happening in my life.

My uncle was in an accident. When my mom told me he passed away, that hit me really hard. He was my go-to person and kept the family together.

It felt so much better knowing that I had all of these people from City Gospel Mission with me, knowing that I could rely on them. I know God put them in my life.

As the years went by, my faith was starting to come back. I could feel God with me.

City Gospel Mission has helped me so much throughout the years. I went through Whiz Kids, Teen Impact, JobsPlus and Rising Scholars. All these programs helped me so much, especially with my faith.

Being the first person in my family to go to college is kind of nerve-wracking, but I know that once I’m done, I can help my sisters when they go to college.

I’m going to be majoring in nursing. I want to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with premature babies. My mother inspired me.

For everyone who has supported City Gospel Mission, I’m very thankful for all that you have done. My faith is good right now.
