By Robin D.
I was tired of living my life the way I was living it – drinking and drugging. I needed to change what I was doing – killing myself. I was homeless and helpless. I didn’t have any hope for the future.
When I hit rock bottom, I made my mind up that my mom does not want to see me go down like this. I had to change, and I needed it right away.
So, I found City Gospel Mission. I came here with a lot of confidence because it’s faith-based, and I had walked away from God.
God finds a way to help you get through all of that pain and make you whole again.
City Gospel Mission has brought me so far. It has given me a steady foundation to stand on to look to the future and live the way God intended me to live – drug-free.
When I came here, I didn’t know how to pray right. Now, I write my prayers and read them in group. I read my Bible every night.
My family is very proud of me. They have been with me every step of the way. When my friends see me, they say, “You look so much happier. Keep doing what you’re doing.”
My main goal is to hold on to my sobriety with all my might.
I feel so good about myself today. I’m not all the way there, but I’m still working on it every day.
Thank you so much. You are a blessing from God. You are Heaven-sent for people like us who need someone we can count on, someone who can give us hope.
